Things which Should Not Be

This could almost be the latest installment of DIY Monday: The Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermists! Griffin, copyright Sarina Brewer 2-Headed Rat, copyright Sarina Brewer (But, uh... that'd be wrong. So very wrong.) [I've been getting a lot of good stuff from PZ lately. He must be in some kind of... interesting space lately.]

I can't remember my 25 year old Monster Manual. Is that a hippogryph or a griffin?

Whilst my recall is hazy as well, I'm about 90% sure that's a griffin. And according to answers.com, a hippogriff is a cross between a griffin and a horse, so that's probably that...

This does leave us with an open question: should the forelimbs of a griffin be feline claws or aquiline talons?

Whoa! Talk about bizarre. That's something else. The bird/rodent thing looks pretty cool though but I agree somewhat - somethings just shouldn't be.
